YMCA Special Needs Camp Counselor (4/17-8/7)

  • Responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs for children with a variety of skill levels.

Baby Gator Child Developmental Center (10/15-12/16)

  • Substitute teacher at Baby Gator, where I taught lessons, encouraged reading, and supervised play time.

Fragile X Behavioral Therapist Assistant (4/16-8/16)

  • Worked alongside a Behavioral Psychologists to help create learning plans and goals for the children with Fragile.

Leadership & Involvement

UF College of Nursing Grenada Study Abroad (3/18)

  • Utilized nursing skills such as vision tests, breast exams, body mass index calculations, blood pressure and glucose monitoring at home visits, health fairs, women's symposium, disability center and senior center. We employed each of these opportunities to emphasize the importance of health management. Moreover, we prepared health related educational material on relevant topics afflicting the country.

Caring for Sean  (3/18- present)

  • Sean is a one year old boy from Grenada with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome.

  • Goal is to provide Sean with supplies and a educational toy that he can use autonomously every year. 

  • My role is to organize the fundraising and gift that is developmentally appropriate through utilizing Piaget and Erikson's theories.

Gator Nurse Ambassador (2017- present)

  • Conduct tours, host donors at the college’s events, write thank you cards, work at career fair, pinning ceremony, commencement, alumni reunions, and graduation.

​

NICU Volunteer at Shands Hospital (1/17-5/17)

  • Comforted infants in the NICU due to congenital diseases, suffering from drug withdrawal, and premature birth. 

​

Medical Surgery Unit Volunteer at Shands Hospital (1/17-present)

  •  Aid in the education of patients conditions and hospital procedures to make their stay better.

​

Special Olympics Volunteer (4/16-5/17)

  • Coach and play sports alongside athletes with physical and mental disabilities.

​

Nicaragua Community Service Trip (2/16)

  • Installed water filters that provide clean water for families for up to ten years in the community of El Astillero.

​

Research

University Scholars Program (2018- present)

  •  The University Scholars Program introduces undergraduate students at the University of Florida to the exciting world of academic research. The students work with a mentor one-on-one with a UF faculty member to form their project.

  • Researching the microbiota of individuals with autism and characterizing the participants utilizing a behavioral analysis device

Breast Health Research in Grenada (2018- present)

  • Follow up research on the effectiveness of Dr. Delpech's 2014 study that focused on teaching women the importance of breast health and breast breast self-examination.

​

UF Health Shands Research (2018- present)

  • Researching the effectiveness of gum chewing in post operative gastrointestinal surgical patients.
