Culture Shock

One of the biggest elements of culture shock I experienced was due to the infrastructure of Grenada. The roads were treacherous with sharp turns, bumpy terrain, and narrow roads nearing the edge of cliffs. I had to put a great deal of faith in our driver, Trevor. I was terrified. Another part of the traveling that surprised me was that the drivers give a courtesy honk when they want to pass. I am from south Florida where beeping is not considered a pleasant gesture.

Time is a stringent concept in the United States. I get overwhelmed when cutting it close in time. In Grenada, time seems to be a more fluid and forgiving concept. No one seems to be in a rush. The beauty of their concept of time is that the Grenadians do not become frustrated at others tardiness.
