Grenada provides free of charge primary care to their residents. The citizens only pay for a small fee for medicine and lab work. These fees are waived for the elderly, children, and for those that cannot afford the payment. Grenadians participate in a social security in place of a national health insurance plan that covers work related injuries in replace of a national health insurance plan . Due to this knowledge, I am going to ask the individuals I interact with if they are utilizing the free resources at their disposal. As a result of impact of primary care in the Grenadian society, I assume that disease processes may be diagnosed earlier. This assumption leads me to believe less people perish from diseases that can be detected early with regular screenings, such as breast and skin cancer.

The United States Agency for International Development discovered that Grenadians were looking for improvement in the quality of public hospitals. Some specific areas where medicine on the island lacks are oncology, hematology, radiology, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. Consequently, many medical emergencies are transported to the United States or other Caribbean islands for care (Healthcare in Grenada). Moreover, I will ask residents at the health fairs how they respond when presented with emergencies. I am anticipating their medicine not to be as advanced in America due to the absence of these crucial facets of healthcare.

Furthermore, research on the country taught me that diabetes and high blood pressure are rising problems throughout the country. This finding means that the nutrition portion of the prepared education needs to target decreasing sugar and sodium. Several simple suggestions of how to adjust diet may be helpful, such as consuming an apple rather than a glass of apple juice.
